Tessa

December 31st, 2010 Comments off

I did not follow Tessa closely on her website, frankly I would forget about her just the way people forget to read this blog, but when I did I was impressed.

Compared to her I felt like the country cousin.  She presented a very beautiful and creative website of the things she loved.

She was born in Cape Town, South Africa, was married to an Englishman, was an artist, a writer and a friend to many. Her paintings reflect her strong ties to her homeland. I love their bright primary colors and the spirit they evoked.

I didn’t know that she was suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, she didn’t dwell on it as she might.  Like the neighbor next door to you or me  going through dark passages that we are unaware of, we only hear about it after the fact and say how sorry we were for their struggle.

Tessa had a very large following and I am sure there are many who are mourning her loss.

News about Tessa, of Aerialarmadillo

LIFE IS NOT A JOURNEY TO THE GRAVE WITH THE INTENTION OF ARRIVING SAFELY IN A PRETTY AND WELL PRESERVED BODY, BUT RATHER TO SKID IN SIDEWAYS, TOTALLY WORN OUT AND YELLING JOYOUSLY …. “WOOO HOOO WHAT A RIDE!”  Tessa

It is sad news to hear that  Tessa, of aerialarmadillo.blogspot.com has passed away.

This is the tribute her daughter posted:

The African storm has finally subsided and for Mama the clouds have cleared to make way for that magical light that is liquid sunshine.
After a long and courageous battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis Tessa passed away on Monday, 27th December surrounded by her family.
She brought warmth, light and colour into our lives and the world is a drabber, sadder and drearier place without her. No words can describe the loss we feel, but she will forever remain a bright, shining star in our memories – warm, bold, brave and strong.
This blog was meant as a memoir for her children, but through it she found new friends who lifted her spirit and helped her fly. Thank you.

Warmest regards,
Beani, Georgie and Guy Edwards

I don’t know how long her website will be available, but why not take a look while it is still running? The South African woman loved life, art, poetry, books, her family, and she obviously loved South Africa.

Continue Defending Yourself in the New Year

A tourist guide gives this advice:

If a robber asks for your wallet/ and or purse,

DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.

TOSS IT AWAY FROM YOU!

Chances are he is more interested

in your money than you and he will go after the wallet.

Then RUN LIKE CRAZY IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

Enter into History – Events of 2010

At the end of the year we can’t help but look back over our shoulder and be amazed at all that has happened. No matter what took place, in the universe or in our own families, we have, with God’s help, survived to talk about it.

If your family has been struck with heartache, loss and pain, then 2010 year will forever be marked by that loss. I pray God will comfort you as you face each new day.

Some of the problems of the past year will be carried over into 2011.  It isn’t a clean slate, is it?  Let’s strive to keep optimistic and faithful to our beliefs during even the most difficult of personal or global crisis.

May God bless us as we face the unknown.

A Day in the Life . . .

Ralphie reminds me of a two year old child in so many ways.

For instance: if I am on the telephone, he runs to get a toy and wags it in my face trying to get me to play.  When I am  working on the computer, he comes and insists on being held for a minute or two.  I know, I know, he’s a dog. ( I can hear you nondog lovers groaning.)

The one rule I have kept to with the little fella is that I don’t want kisses on my face.  I don’t care who tells me a dog’s mouth is cleaner than humans! So, his goal is to catch me offguard and plant a big one on me.  I have learned to dodge expertly.

This morning, with coffee cup nearby, but before a comb has come close, I am checking the blog  and he stands bouncing,  like on a trampoline, to propel himself into my white robed lap.  He’s a happy guy but just can’t leave well enough alone . . . he has to go for the kiss.

Humor me folks, until I get a grandchild, this is the best I can do!

Indentify Use of This Wire

  • clues: This one is about 8 inches long and 2cm wide, but they come in different sizes.
  • They are used in pairs.
  • They, or variations, are very common but when used properly are unseen.
  • They are rigid and do not lose their shape.
Congratulations to Cindy for figuring it out!  If you want to know the answer, read her comment.  If you want to keep guessing, please do!
Have you seen one of these before? What is its use?  Leave your guess as a comment.  I’ll tell you later.
