Prayer, from Pastor Rick

Hello Friends,

One of the greatest gifts God gave us is the ability to connect with Him through prayer.   It is such an honor, a privilege to go to Almighty God that I have no trouble kneeling before Him.  If we really believe that we are in God’s presence when we pray, then I don’t know how any of us can stand, but there are many times throughout the day when I am ‘on the go’ and He goes with me.

When I awake in the morning I often think, “Thank you God for another day.”  Before I eat my meals I say  something like, “Thank you God for this food.”  When I am looking for a place to park I pray, “Lord, I know you have a parking space just for me, lead me to it.”   When I visit the ill or bereaved, I pray that God will be the comfort to their hearts in a way that only he can. When I am going to address a group I pray, “Dear God help me to say exactly what the people in the audience need to hear to draw them closer to you.”

Those are just examples of how I pray throughout the day.  It is an ongoing dialogue with God.  He walks with me from morning to night.  It isn’t because I am a preacher.  It is because I have a relationship with God that goes beyond the pulpit.  You can have the same relationship in your life.  If you truly believe He is with us all the time, then talk with Him throughout the day.  It will surprise you to find that his presence is a comfort.  You don’t have to go run to Him when an emergency arises – He is already there.  Just talk with Him.

Thank you friends,  with loving prayers for each of you, Rick

Jesus taught his disciples (us) to pray:

Our Father which art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

On Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts

as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,

for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever.
