If you like the ingredients, it certainly is easy.  Mary Murphy on FB says it is “absolutely wonderful”.  We’ll just try it and see.

German Skillet Dinner~ absolutely wonderful
3 tbl butter or margarine
1/2 cabbage , chopped
2/3 c uncooked rice (I use minute rice)
1 med onion, chopped
2 lbs hamburger
1 can diced tomatoes or rotel tomatoes
Salt and pepper to tasteMelt butter in skillet, layer cabbage, uncooked rice, onion, raw crumbled hamburger, salt and pepper, then tomatoes. Cover with lid and simmer 25-35 minutes until rice, cabbage and burger are done. Do not stir or lift lid until done.

Bison For Din-Din?

Run,  Bison, Run!

Tim and I tried Bison tacos one night.  It was so spicy we couldn’t really distinguish a taste difference from beef.  It is very lean and supposed to be better for you because of the added protein, less fat, less cholesterol.

Ted’s Montana Grill is one of the largest U.S. restaurant companies to feature bison on its menu. The company was founded as a for-profit effort to stop the extinction of the American Bison.

So by having them for dinner, we help save them from extinction?  Okay, Ted. Whatever works.

P.S. According to Wikipedia, the  American Buffalo is our North American colloquial name for American Bison (Bison bison)

At Arkansas State University  they used to have several Bison/Buffalo; anyone know if the buffalo still roam at good ole ASU?
