Pastor Rick talks about Forgiveness

September 29th, 2013 Comments off

Hello Friends,

The Bible talks a lot about forgiveness.  Over and over again we are directed to forgive.  In the Lord’s Prayer Jesus gives as an example, “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.”

Forgiveness, it says, is given to us in the same measure that we give it to others.   If we withhold forgiveness from anyone, we only add to our own discomfort.  Forgiveness, as they say, is a gift to yourself.  It frees you from the unhealthy attachment to a person or situation.  It is breaking the bonds that bind.

Do you need to forgive someone?  Do it right now.  Give it to God and refuse to take back the anger, the pain, the heartache of whatever the situation represents to you.  Pray for the person you must forgive with all sincerity, that God will bless them.  When you can do that, you’ll know you are truly free.

Love Is

Music and Lyrics by Dottie Rambo

(From the kids musical: Down by the Creek Bank)

Love is a very special thing, A smile a tear, a soft summer rain.

It has no beginning and has no end,

But I like it best when it’s shared with a friend.

Love is never stuffed up, never puffed up,

Never gives up, When the going’s rough;

Its the biggest little word you can say, by the way.

It’s sympathy, sincerity, charity,  the main variety, of everything happiness is made of

And I like it best when it’s shared with a friend.

A lot less painful than the flu!

September 28th, 2013 Comments off

Upclose MaryToday was drive thru-flu shot day at Kaiser.

I figured there would be a line since I waited until 10:00 a.m. to get there, but nope, drove right through with no one in front of me.  I asked the nurse if they had had many people that morning and she said, “One thousand so far.”

What?  In three hours they had inoculated 1,000 peeps! Wow! She said they were expecting 4,000 by the end of the day.

I hope it does the trick and that it gets the right flu bug that is headed our way.  If not, at least we tried!

The bleach will kill bacteria and help your pumpkin stay fresh longer.

Once completely dry, (drain upside down), add 2 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to a quart of water.

Brush this solution onto your pumpkin to keep it looking fresh for weeks.”
