Exercise doesn’t have to hurt to help you get in shape.

Exercise doesn’t have to hurt to help you get in shape. If you’re a beginner, start slowly. A little muscle soreness is normal in the beginning, so don’t let it keep you from exercising. But if you have severe pain, stop exercising until it goes away. If it doesn’t, see a medical professional before you start up again.

seniors_2Walking, weight lifting, and yoga would be the most balanced exercise plan because it has three different types of exercise: aerobic/cardio (walking), strength training (weight lifting), and flexibility training (yoga).

 All three are important. Aerobic or “cardio” (walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, tennis, basketball) boosts the strength of your heart and lungs; strength or “resistance” training (weight lifting, resistance band exercises, etc.) images-3help to keep your muscles and bones strong, and help with balance and coordination;

and flexibility exercises (yoga, stretching, tai chi) can improve your range of motion and reduce your risk for injury.

1964 1/2 Mustang

The original Ford Mustang debuted on April 17, 1964, at the attractive price of $2,368. Dealers were inundated with requests for the sleekly-styled new vehicle. In Garland, Texas, 15 customers thronged to bid on the same Mustang. The winning bidder resorted to sleeping overnight in his new car so that it wouldn’t be sold out from under him before his check could clear.

Ford initially forecasted annual sales of about 100,000 units. On the first day alone, dealers took 22,000 Mustang orders. Shortly after its introduction, the fledgling vehicle’s success was official when it was featured on the racetrack as the pace car for the 1964 Indianapolis 500. During the Mustang’s first 12 months on the market, sales built to an astounding 417,000. Within two years, sales had catapulted to one million.

“We Are Seven” – Thank you Mr. Wordsworth, now I get it.

Photo on 2015-01-19 at 13.24 #2My sister Martha would have been 86 years old today.  She passed into the next life New year’s Eve’ 2014.

It is very hard to think of her as gone because she was a big part of my life, much bigger than I’m sure she realized.

The poem by Wordsworth, “We Are Seven” is about a little girl who insisted that ‘we are seven’ when referring to her siblings, although two were deceased.

This poem resonates with me more fully now, for we are seven too.  The first to leave was Betty Carolyn, who passed at the age of 8 months.  She was the third of the seven.  With Martha’s passing that means we have lost two, but I, like the little girl, am more committed than ever to the fact that we were, are, and always will be  . . . seven!

 Location doesn’t have anything to do with it.

Maude White owns the Brave Bird Paperwork and Jewelry paper art and handmade felt jewelry company.

When I cut paper, I feel as if I am peeling back the outer, superficial layer of our vision to reveal the secret space beneath,” writes White. “I have great respect for paper. When I cut, the thin membranous material reveals its strength to me.

I feel that there are very few things in the world as reliable and constant as paper,” adds White. “Paper is everywhere and it has been telling stories for centuries.
