Bogie and Bacall playfully lift their son Stephen by the arms.  Haven’t we all done this to our little ones?  Well, we should not have!  Doctors say it can do harm to their arms, even to dislocating them.  Great actors, but like all of us, they did not always know what was best for their child.

The #1 Mistake People Make in An Emergency

August 3rd, 2016 Comments off

Health Magazine reports that the #1 mistake is neglecting to call 911.

Surprised?  It may seem like an easy decision but it’s often tough to tell if the situation is serious enough to warrant reaching for the phone, points out Leslie D. Michelson, author of ‘The Patient’s Playbook’.

Consider the person’s past medical history (like heart issues or diabetes) when making up your mind, especially if he or she is elderly.

Err on the side of caution and head to the ER if it’s a significant head injury, regardless of age.

“It’s fortunate if people haven’t had to experience emergencies,” Michelson says, ” but it’s extremely important to be ready if they do happen.”

Defending Self

Most of us, especially women, are sympathetic people.

We see someone in need and we  respond.

Unfortunately, the bad guys know this and

use it against us.

Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good looking, well-educated

man, who always played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.

He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked ‘for help’ into his

vehicle or with his vehicle.  That’s when he abducted his next victim.

I don’t want to become a cynic, but we must be careful.  And oh yeah . . . be sure to SCREAM!

Is your Flashlight a case for dead batteries ?

If you know you’re not going to use

the flashlight for a while, put

the batteries in backwards so they won’t

drain and go dead on you.  Just remember

what you’ve done.

Earthquakes: Not Just for California Any More

I suggest you print this out and keep it with your emergency supplies. Don’t argue that you don’t have earthquakes where you live . . . be prepared.  You might need it for another disaster.  Better safe than sorry, right?

Defending Self: What to do?

May 5th, 2015 1 comment

This is a tough one to know what to do.

The warning I received by email is: if you wake up in the middle of the night

to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe,

DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE!

It may be a ploy to get you outside to be attacked.

I don’t know what one is supposed to do in this instance.  Do you?
