Dear First Lady,

I know tradition has it that on this morning I place cards   Happy Anniversary cards on your breakfast tray.  But things are somewhat mixed up.  I substituted a gift & delivered it a few weeks ago.

Still this is the day, the day that marks 31 years of such happiness as comes to few men.  I told you once that it was like an adolescent’s dream of what marriage should be like.  That hasn’t changed.

You know I love the ranch but these last two days made it plain I only love it when you are there.  Come to think of it that’s true of every place & every time.  When you aren’t there I’m no place, just lost in time & space.

I more than love you, I’m not whole without you.  You are life itself to me.  When you are gone I’m waiting for you to return so I can start living again.

Happy Anniversary & thank you for 31 wonderful years.

I love you

         The Second Time Around
                   by Cahn &Van Heusen

Love is lovelier
The second time around
Just as wonderful
With both feet on the ground

It’s that second time you hear
Your love song sung
Makes you think perhaps that love
Like youth, is wasted on the young

Love’s more comfortable
The second time you fall
Like a friendly home
The second time you call

Who can say
What brought us to this miracle we’ve found
There are those who’d bet
Love comes but once and yet

I’m oh so glad we met
The second time around

The Light of Love

by Jimmy Simpson

.

When I was young and still unwise,

I saw the love light in your eyes;

But being new and yet unlearned,

In ways that true love is returned,

At first I had a twinge of fright,

Within the splendor of that light;

Then as I looked again at you,

Somewhere inside of me I knew,

That in the glow surrounding me,

Was love that would forever be;

And so with thanks to God above,

My soul received the light of love….

The Hersheys – Lori and David

February 11th, 2015 1 comment

One of the secrets to a happy marriage is to have fun together.  David and Lori Hershey share many interests in common .  One is the collection and showing of their classic cars, especially the famous TransAm ‘Bandit”.  They are also big sports fans, supporting Baltimore and Texas whenever possible.

Creative and enthusiastic, they work in television, photography and videos.  To learn more about their creative enterprises, go to http://hersheycreative.com/hersheycreative.com/Home.html

They have two daughters, Hannah and D.J. (Devon Jessica), dogs Petey and Sophie, and a kitty cat whose name escapes me at the moment.  Rounding out their happy home is Nana (Lori’s mother Norma Sue) who shares in the fun and adds warmth and love to their Texas abode.

When my friends Dave and June Sheets were asked by their son Chris to act in a friend’s video, playing a couple that had been married for a long time, they agreed.  It was easy, since that year they celebrated their 50th year together.  Their story of how they met is different from the one portrayed, but not in the love that held them together.  They are strong Christians and have an abundance of friends, a much admired couple whose  children’s ministry of  having fun while sharing the message of Jesus Christ, has reached thousands of young people.  I am blessed to consider them my ‘forever friends’.  Dave and June have been featured before on this website, just put their names in the search box.

I watch this guy a lot, do you?

This picture was taken at my daughter Charlie’s Baptism in Leiper’s Fork Creek. I was carrying my wife Jodi out of the water. So fortunate that God has blessed me with 2 beautiful girls to love…

In 1993 Blake and Lisa vowed to always love each other and 20 years later – they still do! Congratulations to the Russells, who have a love that keeps them smiling.

The Pickneys Celebrate Another Year of Marriage

July 28th, 2013 Comments off

Pickneys 45We grew up together in the Assembly of God Church in Pocahontas, Arkansas.  Although Dorothy and Merwin were a bit younger than I, we couldn’t help but know each other in the small congregation.

The Hubbells and Pickneys were part of our ‘church family,’ active in leadership, as were my parents, and serving in many capacities as our spiritual examples.

Dorothy Hubbell and Merwin Pickney became friends, best buddies, when they were very young.  They liked each other, and as they grew older, that ‘like’ turned to love.  Now, they are celebrating 45 years of marriage.  “What God hath brought together . . .”

If it hadn’t been for FaceBook I might never have caught up with them again, due to time and distance, but I am glad I did.  It is good to know that they are still serving the Lord, that they have a growing and loving family (they are delighted to be grandparents) and from their pictures they appear to be healthy,  still best friends, and still in love. What a blessing!

Congratulations Dorothy and Merwin with wishes and prayers for many more happy years together.

Kim Williams writes on FB:

Today is my parents’ 45th wedding anniversary. I realize I am blessed beyond belief to have Wanda and Jimmy Williams as my parents, always in ‘my corner’, always supporting me. I don’t know how they survived raising me yet keeping their sanity.  They are two of the best people God put on this Earth . . . and I am privileged to be able to call them my parents.
