A father in Louisiana, a husband in CA, a mother in Texas, and a grandmother in Arkansas are in various stages of Alzheimer’s. The families need your prayers and support. There are many others, but these are the ones I know of personally.
Let’s pray that God will allow a cure to be found.

Please pray for our small community of Florence, Texas, we lost one of our JV football players this week in a wreck. There were four people involved in the wreck, one died, one is having back surgery and hopefully the other two are going to be ok, but how can they ever be ok after this loss. Please pray for their parents and again for our small community. Delores

Again, Mary I am so thankful that God saw fit to bring us together. Thank you for posting the prayer request for our community. You are a wonderful person and I am so thankful that you are a friend. May God continue to bless you every day. Your friend in Christ, Delores

Thank you Delores I appreciate the kind words. I know that it will take a long while for the community to get beyond the sadness of today, so we will continue to remember our Texas friends and ask God to be the comfort they need in the future. It is a scary world these days, and as you already know, our faith has to be the source of our greatest strength. Thanks again for writing, Mary

Please pray for Richard McCann who has been in the hospital withpneumonia. From his last FB report, he now has blood clots in both lungs. Richard is a great guy from my hometown, who now lives in Alabama. I am sure he and his wife Brenda would appreciate your prayers for his complete recovery.

UPDATE: Richard had a rough go of it, but is now at home and in recovery. He has lost weight and plans to lose more, which will hopefully help prevent blood clots from reappearing.

Please pray for my friend’s husband who has cirrhosis of the liver. The doctors diagnosed it late because he is not a drinker and they did not suspect it to be cirrhosis, which is often associated with alcohol consumption. Pray they will find effective treatment for him soon.

UPDATE: Although he is not well, his condition is under control with medication.

    Hi Mary,

Please say a prayer for my sister, Mary Lou Priest, Judy James, and I as we leave early morning Wednesday, October 5, for our trip to Pennsylvania, to visit family and friends, see some of the places where Mary Lou and I grew up, and to take the final step in saying goodbye to Bernice Mentzer, as I described in my comments to your August 18 article, “A Serious Decision”. We will be coming back on October 13.

    Jim Mentzer

Have a blessed trip Jim. I know it will be a memorable one. It should be a beautiful time to go back there with the seasons changing. My prayers are with you, Mary Lou and Judy as you take that final step of farewell. God Bless, Mary

Please pray for Pastor Tommy Carpenter and his family. Tommy’s wife, Nelma, and their 10 year old grandson Buck, were killed yesterday in a car accident. A tremendous loss of two wonderful people. They are with God and they are okay, but the ones left behind are grieving and need our prayers. Tommy and Nelma had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July of this year.

Please pray for Jim in N.Y. He needs salvation, a release from addictions, and wise medical help. He is 44 and has had 4 heart attacks since the age of 30. Jim and his wife have 3 children. He is greatly discouraged and has lost the will to live. The family will appreciate your prayers.

A special prayer request: My brother Jamie is 73. For the last 5 years he has had life-threatening conditions, many related to diabetes. His body bears the scars of surgeries to save his life. At a time when he should be able to enjoy his retirement years, he is faced with additional pain and restrictions. The latest report is discouraging – the infection from his foot is now halfway up his leg. He is on massive doses of antibiotics and will have to have hours of treatment every day for 8 weeks. We talked this morning and like we have done many times before, we prayed together, asking God to intervene. It is hard sometimes to know how to pray when you have prayed so much for someone, but I learned from when my sister Norma Sue was ill that you just don’t stop praying. There is comfort in going to our Heavenly Father and believing that he cares for us as he said. We know that the most vital part of praying is coming into agreement with God. We ask fervently and we don’t give up, but ultimately we accept what is. I am asking for your prayers on my brother’s behalf: for sound medical treatment, for the support and help he needs to get back and forth to the doctor’s office and his other needs. He is concerned that he won’t be able to see Mama every day in the nursing home. She looks forward to his visits so much, and he has been faithful as her son, caregiver and advocate. Please pray that God will help them both. Thanks, Mary
UPDATE: Although he lost part of his foot to amputation, the infection is healed and he can walk again. Only God!

After almost constant pain, surgery, intensive treatments, and months and months of massive doses of every antibiotic they could come up with, the medical team has determined that he will have to lose part of his foot in order to get the infection out of his body.

This Friday at 12:00 noon he will be in surgery at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro. The hard truth is,
until they operate they won’t really know how much of the foot will have to be amputated.

The doctors have said that the first 72 hours after surgery are critical.

*He needs our prayers on many levels, but the first and foremost is that his life is spared and
that the surgery will be successful.
*Next needs are for practical matters, like a place to stay, and transportation. He is reluctant to ask for help, but I know he could use it.

Please ask your church to pray for Jamie and add him to your own prayer list. Our prayers go
before him: to comfort him, to befriend him, to let him feel God’s presence in a real way as he
    goes through this difficult time.

UPDATE: Jamie has taken a series of hyperbaric oxygen treatments and is hopeful that the healing will be complete. Thank you for your prayers.

UPDATE: Jamie is doing much better. He is able to walk again. Continue praying for a complete healing and adjustment.

    April 13th, 2012 at 20:37 | #17

From FB: I am now home in Grayson after 8 days of treatment in the Heart and Vascular Center of KDMC in Ashland, Kentucky. My diagnoses are Deep Vein Thrombosis, Deep Phlebitis NEC, and a clotting disorder – which my specialist says I’ll have for the rest of my life. This will eventually mean some severe adjustments to the only kind of life and ministry which I’ve known over the past 32 years. Also, my vascular surgeon told me today that travel is too dangerous over the next few months. Anyone who knows my family(NathanandTessa Lawson, Stephanie Jean Pemberton and Mark Pemberton), and I will also know what a blow this has been to me and my children. We would greatly appreciate your prayers for the Lord’s guidance. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 We put our trust in you, Lord…! Nancy Pemberton
UPDATE: Nancy has a filter in her vein to catch blood clots. The doctor is actually giving her permission to go to Africa for a wedding. Let’s continue praying for Nancy.

One thing I believe is God will never give us more than we can endure. Mom is back at home with caregivers around the clock. She’s up about every 1-2 hours night and day due to extreme pain. We rushed her back to the E.R. on Sunday due to pain, at which time she was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in knee. Doctor said knee replacement surgery is the only option for any quality of life but recovery would probably be too difficult given her current condition and recent hip surgery. She is on heavy pain meds but they offer little relief. The family is with her most of the time, bringing in her favorite foods and trying to coax her to eat. It’s so hard on our dad. Please do keep us in your prayers. Carol Ziegler FB

Update: Ruth Plueger, a dear and wonderful friend, is now with the Lord and without pain.10-’12

Please remember Robin, who’s mother recently passed away. She and husband Craig have had 4 friends to also pass within a short time. It is difficult to process all the loss they are experiencing. They need your prayers.

    Two requests today:
My neighbor John Russum is awaiting heart surgery at UCLA Medical Center. Please pray for John and his wife Jeanne during this difficult time.
UPDATE: John is doing well and should be coming home today.

Dick Heineman’s wife Kay wrote on FB: Keep prayers lifting hubby up. He is on dialysis, on respirator, had another heart issue and an infection….. A lot going on his body. He is sedated so resting. He is totally in Gods hands. (Kay is one of my Bible Study friends, a woman of faith.)
UPDATE: I’m sorry to report that Dick Heineman passed away in the hospital. Continue prayers are requested for his family and friends.

From Bro. Tommy Carpenter on FB:

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST: (prayertaskforce.org) Security forces in Iran have shut down a large Assemblies of God church in Tehran. Officials also recently demanded that church members submit their names and national identification numbers.

A former youth pastor of Tehran’s AG church, currently residing in the U.S., was arrested when traveling into Iran. Though currently not in custody, he remains in Iran awaiting trial.

Imprisoned pastor Youcef Nadarkhani has been ordered to appear before a court on September 8. The proceedings’purpose has not yet been revealed.

Despite this ever-increasing pressure, there is an intense spiritual hunger in Iran and large numbers of Iranians are coming to faith in Christ.

AGWM Executive Director Greg Mundis has appealed to all AG churches in the US to unite in prayer this Sunday for believers who are suffering in Iran.

“The Lord is clearly moving us to an intensified commitment to pray for fellow believers throughout the world who are suffering for Christ,” Mundis says. “It is our responsibility to faithfully intercede for our brothers and sisters who are paying such a great price for His name.”

    PLEASE PRAY TODAY!

This is a very special prayer request. My brother Jamie has been diagnosed with throat cancer. He will be undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. To all my family and friends, Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
It appears that I will be fighting the Big Fight this time around.
My cancer has made its home in many parts of my body so I will work very hard to evict it. Please keep me in your daily prayers and I will work hard to earn them. Thank you all again for the love and support you have given me. I love you all. Linda Lombardi Borland

I want to thank all our friends and family for the prayers, support and encouragement. Taryn checks in for surgery noon tomorrow at UAMS. The oncologist isn’t positive what the large mass is but suspects its ovarian cancer. Please pray for a benign tumor and for Taryn’s healing. God is in control and we are trusting in Him. Sherri Hagood Fryar

(Taryn is Sherri’s 20 year old daughter.)

  27. September 11th, 2013 at 10:15 | #27

Update on request for Taryn: from FB, her Aunt Shirley writes:

Taryn is back from surgery and it was not what they expected to find. It was precancerous but he was able to Pull the mass away from the uterus and he only had to remove one tube and ovary. And don’t expect to have to any other treatment . Shirley

To this we say, “Praise God”. Thank you for your prayers. Taryn and her family appreciate it very much. MT

  28. September 29th, 2013 at 21:19 | #28

Mary Etta, the doctor either didn’t have much experience with this type of cancer or something. The pathology came back on Taryn’s tumor and it is 3rd stage Ovarian cancer. It is slow growing and does not respond to Chemo very well. MD Anderson is using an experimental drug that they are having great success with and he is going to get in touch with them and do some more research and come up with a treatment plan for her. Please keep her in your prayers and in all your contacts that pray. Shirley

I am so sorry for this set back. Taryn will be in our prayers.

Please pray for our daughter Meryl. She suffered complications from a brain tumor when she got pregnant and her husband abandoned her and took the baby. She has given up on life and is now in a nursing home. But God is great and I trust Jeremiah 29:11 for her. Please stand with me. Thank you.
